Cor-Ten

The EverEdge Cor-Ten range makes a feature of garden edging.

Cor-Ten is a type of steel which is designed to weather naturally but not break down like regular steel. A layer of rust forms over the steel and protects the metal underneath from weathering. The lengths start out a dull silver colour and take 5 weeks to form the rust finish.

  • Everedge in Cor-Ten is available in single metre lengths that easily interlock
  • EverEdge in Cor-Ten is available in 100mm, 125mm and 150mm depths
  • Thickness (gauge) is 1.5mm
  • Spikes are 95mm long (six spikes per metre length)
  • Weights per length are 1.26kg for 100mm depth, 1.65kg for 125mm length and 2kg for the 150 mm depth

EverEdge in Cor-Ten is particularly popular for all edging requirements.

The rust finish complements any existing Cor-Ten features and brings an element of history to the garden. The 100mm, 125mm and 150mm depths are very effective at controlling grass runners – when 30mm of the actual edge as well as the spikes is hammered into the ground it creates an effective barrier that will stop the runners invading paths or garden beds.

As well as making an attention grabbing feature of garden edging, EverEdge in Cor-Ten is also extremely effective at defining and separating the different areas of the garden. It holds fast in all soils, keeps a perfect straight line and bends to virtually any shape.

In just a few years EverEdge in Cor-Ten has become our top seller – and every year its popularity increases:

“EverEdge Cor-Ten is a great product. It’s easy to install and bend to our design ideas.”

“EverEdge is like a picture frame for your garden. We love it!”

“The garden is looking great! After putting in the Cor-Ten edging for the grass it looked so good I decided to continue with it for the vegetable patch…”

FAQs

“Will the rust colour leach into my white gravel?”

No, there is no colour run off during the 5 weeks rusting period or after that. White gravel or white pavers will not become stained.

“Will the steel rust away to a pile of flakes?”

Cor-Ten is much more stable than normal steel. The rusting process only takes place on the outside thus protecting the steel on the inside.

“Can I cut the lengths?”

Cor-Ten can be cut with an angle grinder and the cut edges will also develop the rust finish. However, rather than use an angle grinder to cut off any leftover piece we suggest making an angle (which is easy to do over the corner of a table or workbench, etc) and running the extra bit along the fence or wall or whatever it has run up against (this also makes an effective holding frame to keep in mulch and soil, etc). Alternatively it is also easy to overlap the last two sections of EverEdge rather than joining them together on the clip  (they will still hold perfectly).

“What happens if something scrapes off the rust finish?”

If the Cor-Ten does receive a scratch so that the inner silver steel is exposed, it will just rust in the same 5 week period and the scratch will be sealed over.
